What I know for Sure.

Hello, Ebube here! Yaaayyyy, you made it to the end of the first quarter of the year 🎉.

Let’s be honest, I haven’t really been smashing my goals. I have shifted focus many times and distracted myself with newer, shinier ideas and haven’t been committed to going deep on one thing. With that said, the first step to change is awareness, hopefully, things change with this awareness.

I recently read the book ‘What I know for sure’ by Oprah Winfrey. It details her experiences being a student of herself, the people around her, and how we create our individual and collective realities. The book title was posed to her as a question in an interview with film critic, Gene Siskel in 1998.

In honor of Oprah Winfrey, here are a few things I know for sure:

I know for sure that God exists, I know that our sense of wrong and right, love and hate does not come from a void, and our search for purpose or essence is a search for God. I know this for sure because nothing answers the question of the past, present, and future besides God.

I know for sure that our human existence is a spiritual experience, it is a being, not doing, not getting, not attaining and we struggle when we forget to be.

I know that my life is a journey, unveiling itself with every pitfall, every mishap, every win.

I know that nothing is really itself, relationships are intimacy on display, money is value or service on display, wisdom is self-control on display, and getting any of these things requires an abundance of self and mind.

I know that I am a god, birthing life to beings and situations. I am my greatest discovery.

I know that I will die, hence it is important that I live, fully and with every intent. Being kind and compassionate with every word, being present in every event, and giving of myself, to people, my hobbies, my dreams, and whatever else is worth my while.

I know that poetry is the birthplace of inventions. We are all yearning to sing the song in our hearts.

I know that children are the past, present, and future. Our societies are formed by how children are formed.

I know that love is a quality that you either have or do not have. Much like patience, endurance, self-discipline, etc.

I know that human beings are more capable of love than they know.

I know that in all things, life is good and worth living.

Because of you, because you’re still here.
